The summer transfer window thread
The time has come :)

So what do you think has got to be done in the summer regarding ins and outs?

Think there's a good chance Kudus moves to play in midfield behind Bowen. Then this lad in the bench to come in. About time we signed a wonder kid.

Plus being realistic, Kudus has one more seasons with us. No harm in having this lad waiting in the wings.

Get him in.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
We are not playing with 11 men, we need a squad. We need options. We have the second oldest squad in the league and are being linked with Brazilian and Portuguese wonderkids. What’s not to like a? We need to be buying these players and either selling them in two years for £100m and reinvesting or building a squad to compete at the top end.

New rumour doing the rounds is we actually have anywhere between £150 to £200m. Not that I believe that.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Lovely as it would be I can't see how we could fit Kudus, Bowen and Guilherme in the same team, especially as it is looking likely that Jota Silva will come in on the LW. Unless we aren't going to have a recognised striker?

Bruno isn’t coming now.

His wife is pregnant so he wanted more money to make it worth his while to come to London.

Can’t blame him for trying it on.

So onto Kiliman then.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Looks to me like he can play in multiple positions. Right age, right reputation, one of the next big things, exactly what we should after.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
From KUMB….

I'm a supporter of Palmeiras so I can clarify a little, he's Endrick's best friend, he won everything with him at youth level in Brazil and he always competed with Endrick for the best player of the match trophies. But when he became a professional he faced more difficulties in adapting. He is generally used as a right winger, but his best position is as an attacking midfielder. The problem is that he competes with Raphael Veiga (2 times Libertadores champion) who is one of the coach's favorite players. He was also injured early on, but now he has recovered and is doing well again. He's faster than Endrick and Estevão, but not as good at dribbling as Estevão. He also has a great shot from outside the box, has always been compared to Rivaldo, who was also a Palmeiras player. Insane potential, but still has a lot of work to do.

He's very quick and physical for his age, a freak honestly, so I don't see the physicality of the Premier League being any problem. (Estevão will have more problems with this) It's also very difficult to take the ball away from him, I'm honestly surprised there wasn't any movement from City, he would be perfect for Pepe's style. He's not as good on the left, he doesn't rely on his left foot like Antony, but he really shines playing through the middle. I think it's possible that this transfer will happen, but there are other clubs interested, I think his agent and Palmeiras think it's a good idea for him to develop at West Ham and be sold for a higher price in the future having a share in the profits.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
You have to question why we’re looking at signing a player who plays in the position where the 2 best players at the club already play.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Watching Guilherme's YouTube 'best bits' he is Kudus mk2... left footer who plays on the right and will dribble until the cows come home. He is only 18 but surely we aren't going to spend 30m on him when we have Kudus?

Perhaps Kudus is off or perhaps he is seen as the Kudus replacement for 12 months time but surely we aren't spending 30m on a project for the future?

If we are desperate to get an 18 year old Brazilian wonderkid then surely Wesley who plays on the LW makes more sense.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy to buy them all but I'm not sure they are our priority though perhaps Steidten has been told to go and buy players that can be sold for 100m in two years time...

Surely we are not on the verge of replacing all our first 11 with Brazilians?

West Ham advances for Luís Guilherme and agrees to pay R$170 million to Palmeiras

West Ham, from England, is in increasingly advanced talks with Palmeiras to sign Luís Guilherme.

Officials from the English club were in Brazil a few days ago and signaled an offer of 30 million euros (R$ 170 million reais, at today's exchange rate), plus bonuses that are still being discussed and would increase the final value of the negotiation, as happened in the cases of Endrick and Estêvão.

The negotiation is not yet closed, but what encourages the English is that the 18-year-old wing back/winger has already given a positive signal for the deal as it is a team that competes in the Premier League.

Stone me, the doom and gloom merchants, having lost their main point of focus in Moyes, are now back on here mithering about the owners.

For them every silver lining hides a cloud

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Exactly that! I can’t lie, it just makes me apprehensive about how it will ever go when he’s got his little fingers in the pie.

Probably the worst thing that ever happened was Zarate and Sakho (for one season) not being total shit. At least then it was a few training squad punts to supplement the proper signings but I can’t help but think he’s got a lot more cocky with it in recent years.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Its true Scorch that Sullivan could still control the whole process. We have this same discussion every year. Many of us will have experienced it working in different industries where a Financial Director signs off on major purchases. They are renowned for "knowing the cost of everything and value of nothing" by focusing on squeezing the budget to save a few pennies ( which they can save "Now" ) and not considering the huge potential reward longer term from the asset being bid on. They cannot give value to "potential" even if its huge. The whole short term thinking, "penny wise, pounds foolish" thinking.

Sullivan can decide to overspend on a player he fancies and as recommended by messrs Salthouse, Mackay etc.

Hopefully those days are over but none of us really know the level of autonomy Steidten has or whether Sullivan insists on micro managing the financials and details of every transfer.

I'm hoping, its just some negotiation stance or posturing by this Bruno fella. The rumour is we ain't offering much more in wages than he is already earning but that is perhaps just "stirring" speculation. But equally would we be surprised if its Sullivan who doesnt really value footballers unless they are forwards. That's ironic of course as in 13 years he has got 1 or 2 out of 53 forward transfers right.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Moyes may be gone and TS 'in control' of any transfers, but ultimately it's still Sullivan holding the purse strings and still he with the ability to disrupt or torpedo any prospective players he doesn't fancy or push through any that he does. He can still totally go over TS's head.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Early days but I had hoped that we would renew our interest in Ronnie Edwards but I would imagine that would be unlikely with Bruno and this Esteve being linked.

Presumably we will go for Kilman or similar if we offload Aguerd.

Lyon looking at Aguerd apparently but that seems unlikely given that they can't afford to pay 15m for Benrahma.

Fauxstralian 5:06 Thu May 30
Re: The summer transfer window thread
Have no recollection of this French centre half Maxime Esteve who supposedly played 16 games on loan at Burnley
They have taken up the option to buy presumably with the idea of selling him on
Everton also meant to be interested I guess as a replacement for Branthwaite .... they have to sell SOMEONE before June 30 for FFP and seems he is the one

Stubbo 4:36 Thu May 30
Re: The summer transfer window thread
I'd expect Bruno will happen...just some haggle over terms, and why not?! This is the only big move likely in his career and he's a Brazilian International.

Foderingham...who cares. He's 3rd choice keeper which is sensible given Areola missed a few and Fabianski has been a bit injury prone in the past. We're grabbing a 1st choice keeper, all be it from a relegated club, to be our 3rd choice...don't see a problem. Strike rate for keepers through academies must be absolute appalling wherever you go....no one trusts them until they're at least 25, and by then if they're any good a lower league side will have snapped them up. Pointless looking at youth team for back up keepers IMO...and clearly no one EVER plays their youth keepers.

Chill out one and all. The deals will happen...3 within the next 4 weeks was the target.

The window isn't even open for another 2 weeks.

ATH, it's perfectly normal to be suspicious of that midget cunt given his previous. I don't think the team had even flown back from prague last summer when he'd rung in to that jock bastard on talksport to flog rice. with brady, allegedly involved as much as ever, they can never be trusted

AT - Fuck me, the term ''knicker wetter'' hasn't been used on here for a long time, primarily because the ones that were concerned with things were proven correct and the ones throwing around the term were full of shit. However, to type that up before we've even got into June is pretty fucking tragic, I hope you're not a big queen like that in real life.
